I Failed at Reinventing Myself — Until I Learned This
The real story of how starting small — and starting over — gave me purpose again.

Hey friend,
For years, I wanted to reinvent myself. I wasn’t happy with the way my life was going — and today, I want to share what I discovered that helped turn it around.
It all started when I stumbled into the world of content creation. If you're over 40 and wondering if it's too late to start something new — it’s not. In fact, now might be the perfect time.
🎬 My Creative Journey
When I first started making videos, I was completely overwhelmed — by the gear, the process, the uncertainty. But I took it one step at a time. Slowly, I figured out what I was passionate about. I learned what I loved talking about. And most importantly — I didn’t try to run before I could walk.
Through research, podcasts, and the help of some brilliant AI tools, I built a plan — and a name that felt like me: The English Musical Nomad.
💡 Finding My Voice
I’m a musician. A songwriter. And a traveler at heart. I work from home, recently bought an RV, and I’m planning to bring you along for that ride. What started as a YouTube channel for nomads has evolved into something much deeper — a space for personal growth and creative rebirth, especially for people over 40.
And yes, my early numbers were small. My views were low. But every subscriber, every kind comment… they meant everything. It gave me a sense of ownership I hadn’t felt in years.
🌱 Starting Small
If you're thinking about starting something — a YouTube channel, a new hobby, a business — don’t let perfection or fancy gear stop you. Start where you are. Use what you have. I made my first video with just a phone and a living room lamp.
If your passion grows, you can always upgrade later.
🎯 Why Over 40 is an Advantage
Here’s the secret: being older is an advantage. We have lived experience and stories that younger creators simply don’t. We’re less likely to chase trends and more likely to create something real. Authentic. Relatable.
Don’t underestimate your voice.
💬 A Gentle Push
If there’s something you’ve always loved, or a dream you’ve put off — now’s the time to revisit it.
Start small. Take the pressure off. Reconnect with what makes you feel alive.
And remember: every small step counts. Whether it’s your first blog post, your first video, or your first time sharing a comment… it matters.
We’re not too late. We’re right on time.
Until next time,
Max
